VIA X

The company

Creating value through connection.

VIA X MOBILITY AND COMMERCE connects commerce, recommerce and mobility. Our strategy starts with what users need: finding and passing on products, getting people and items to their destination – with as little coordination as possible.

We combine an understanding of markets with digital infrastructure and carefully designed transaction processes. Together, they create more opportunities for our customers, extend the useful life of products and make better use of existing capacity.

VIA X MOBILITY AND COMMERCE is based in Essen and is part of VIA X HOLDING. The holding company and the technology and software division VIA X TECHNOLOGY are based in Fürth, Bavaria.

The business model

Four elements of one strategy.

Our strategy brings together products, matching services and partnerships. The four elements work together to create new opportunities for our users and professional partners.

VIA X MARKET

Commerce & recommerce

Private and business sellers reach buyers with new and pre-owned items. Users find products, communication and transaction handling in one place.

TRANSPORT & SHARED RIDES

Shared mobility

Private drivers carry people or items on their journeys. Matching takes routes, preferred addresses and available capacity into account. Transport and shared rides can be used independently of the marketplace.

VIA X CONNECT

Partners & communities

VIA X CONNECT brings together the reach of community partners and the services of VIA X. Business sellers manage their marketplace presence. Users, communities and partners benefit from recommendations and new customer relationships.

VIA X SELECTION

Our own retail

Our own Home & Living selection complements the marketplace. VIA X SELECTION combines our platform expertise with direct retail experience and gives customers more choice.

Shared infrastructure and coordinated processes connect the four elements. The platform business is based on service fees; VIA X SELECTION complements it with our own retail operation.

The VIA X DNA

We build our business around the user. The benefit to users determines how we develop services, design processes and form partnerships. This commitment connects every part of VIA X.

An unwavering focus on users

Everything we do starts with an uncompromising focus on the user. For us, simplicity comes from clearly structured processes that remove unnecessary effort. In recommerce especially, we design the experience for people who want to buy and sell conveniently, without complicated coordination.

Dependable partnerships

We take a long-term view of our relationships with users, customers and partners. Their experiences and requirements shape the development of VIA X. We maintain a direct dialogue and take responsibility for the solutions we offer – including when a standard process cannot resolve an issue.

Shaping markets and habits

We design recommerce and shared mobility to become natural choices in our users’ daily lives. Appealing services and simple processes change how people buy, sell and use existing resources. In this way, we combine economic value creation with longer product lifespans and better use of capacity.

Our location

At home in the heart of Europe.

Our headquarters are in Essen-Frillendorf, in the Ernestine business district. In a city that combines industrial strength, a long commercial heritage and technological innovation.

Today, Essen is a major centre for technology and research. International retailers, universities and research institutes shape the city. Close collaboration between research and industry supports new technologies and business models in energy, medicine and digitalisation.

The name Ernestine recalls Frillendorf’s mining heritage: coal mining began in the field of the same name in 1851. Today, the district is home to manufacturing, commerce, logistics and services. The nearby A40 connects it to the wider region.
